LIGHTING UP AN EXHIBITION STAND: DON'T UNDERESTIMATE IT!
If you are at a trade show with your company, you would like to attract as many visitors as possible to your stand. Not an easy task, as trade fair visitors decide in a few seconds whether they will visit your stand or not. However, with good lighting, you have a better chance.
You want to stand out at a trade show. After all, it is about people coming into contact with your product and/or company. Lighting is an element that should not be underestimated. With only the lighting that comes standard with the stands, you will really attract fewer visitors. Good lighting has a number of important effects: you stand out more, it gives the impression that you have something to offer and you will, according to research, appear more confident with visitors to the fair. That can ultimately also lead to more leads and direct sales.
With lighting, you can steer visitors to what you want to focus on and the look you want. What kind of atmosphere do you want to create and which products need to be highlighted? With these tips you come to the best lighting for your exhibition stand:
- Consider what you want to attract visitors with
As mentioned, as an exhibitor you don't get much time to convince visitors to come to your stand. Enlightenment is one of the factors that can convince people. With good spots, you create a warm and lively atmosphere. Light can also ensure that the eye of visitors is drawn, for example to a certain product. Before you choose the lighting for your stand, you have to think carefully about your target group and the exhibition itself. An older target group usually does not like bright colors and flashing light, while young people are often drawn by LED strips or LED screens, for example. On the other hand, you also have to take into account that everyone can read and see everything properly in your stand, otherwise, that can also lead to a loss of visitors.
- Think about color
You can respond to the state of mind of passers-by by means of lighting and color. The same lighting that is also used in homes - lighting that can be adjusted as desired in terms of color and intensity - can also be used at an exhibition stand. It is good to study in advance which color has what effect so that you can determine what is best for your purposes. A green color evokes an entirely different association than, for example, red.
- Decide which lamps you want to use
The old-fashioned light bulb is almost no longer seen on stock exchange floors. LED lighting or halogen lighting is usually chosen. However, LED lighting is the best choice for an exhibition stand, as this is the most economical product. Moreover, there are nowadays much good quality LED lamps available that not only emit warm light but are also dimmable.
Many exhibitors will use spotlights in particular at their exhibition stand, which will, for example, illuminate a poster on the wall or a product on a pedestal or in a display case. You can use Floodlight if you want to illuminate a large part of your stand or space evenly. An example of a floodlight is a light pole at a football stadium.
- Make a light plan
The more you delve into the situation on the exhibition floor in advance, the better you can make a lighting plan. You can approach the exhibition organizer in advance and ask what lighting they offer. You can also find out how many connections and suspension points you have at your disposal. Examine the map in advance and look up any videos from previous editions so that you can see what space looks like. Then draw up a lighting plan in which you explain which luminaires will be installed where. Also, consider which lighting you choose and how you ensure that it arrives at the location on time. And remember: if you opt for new lighting, go for good LED lighting.
